What happens in the chair
The tooth is numbed and the decay taken out. The filling is placed in layers, set with a light, then shaped so your bite meets it evenly.
Why the fee says one surface
A filling is priced by the sides of the tooth it covers. The first look shows how far the cavity goes, so you know the fee before anything starts.
Afterwards
The tooth can feel sensitive to cold for a while. If your bite feels high once the numbness wears off, ring the desk and it will be adjusted.
